You can order a copy of a Birth, Marriage or Death Certificate in several ways. You can either order it online and pay for it at the same time. You can do it by telephone. You can do it by correspondence to the Office for National Statistics in South Port. You can visit the Family Records Center in London. Which is due to close fairly soon, and order a copy from there, having searched the indexes on the open shelves. Or alternatively if you know in which area a particular birth, marriage or death was registered you can contact the appropriate local registration district office and purchase a copy direct from there.
