How do I pay capital gains tax?

Capital gains have to be disclosed on the self assessment tax return. That has to be filed with HM Revenue and Customs by 31st January following the end of the tax year at the very latest. For the tax year ended the 5th of April 2007, any gains made in the year have to be communicated to HM Revenue and Customs by 31st of January 2008 on the completed tax return, and on the date tax also has to be paid.
