How do I pay less tax?
You can pay less tax first of all by just being careful about your tax affairs. For example if you're an employee, you may be able to claim allowances for equipment or things that you have that you use for your business. Usually those will be dealt with through an expenses policy that your employer has. If you are self-employed, you need to keep a record of all the expenses you incur for your business. And after the end of the tax year you can total up the taxable profit figure and send that in to H and revenue customs by completing the self assessment tax form. If you don't have a record of the expenses that you've incurred, then you're not going to be able to claim tax relief. You may not even remember that you claimed them. So lesson number one in reducing your tax bill is to make sure that you keep a record of all the tax allowable expenditure that you incur.
