How do I pick the right sports drink?
To pick the right sport drink, you want to look at the ingredients label. What you're looking for is the word "polymer". It'll say something like "polymer glucose", "polymer carbohydrate" or "polymer sugar", as opposed to those that say "glucose". If it just says glucose, that's a simple sugar molecule, and this is going to be the one that's going to give you a large load of sugar into your bloodstream, and consequently cause a temporary dip in your blood sugar level as your insulin is released to absorb that sugar. So, polymer sugars will not cause that lowered blood sugar level while you're exercising. The key is to see the word "polymer".
