How To Prepare For Radioactive Iodine Therapy
How can I prepare for radioactive iodine therapy?
The major preparation for radioiodine treatment or scanning is to not take food material that has iodine in them. For example, some seafood or kelp, or if you read that there is iodine material within the food product. The other thing is that if the patient is taking anti-thyroid medications, they should also be stopped about a week before the treatment because they can interfere with the radioiodine optics. Those are the major preparations that the patient needs to do prior to radio iodine procedure.
