How can I prevent an attacker from getting my gun?

Another advantage to a handgun is it's relatively hard to get it away from somebody unless it is totally by surprise because there is no barrel that can be grabbed. If you are going through a dark house around the corner, somebody could grab the barrel of the rifle but it's a lot harder to grab the barrel of a handgun because it's just not that long.
