How can I prevent getting oral herpes?
Oral herpes can be any kind of herpes can be transmitted even when the disease is not being expressed even when the patient doesn't have the blisters at the time. Obviously if a patient has blisters, they're most infectious and that's the time to avoid any skin to skin contact but herpes virus can be transmitted at anytime even when there's no disease. So there's no real way to prevent it other than no contact. Having said that up to 90 percent of the population is a carrier for the oral type of herpes and that's less of a problem. Genital is a problem especially for women because if they get a breakout while pregnant or nearing term in their pregnancy it may necessitate the need of taking IV herpes medicines during the time of delivery or even need to have a C-section in order to prevent transmission to the baby.
