How To Prevent Jet Lag

Charles Triay (General Practicioner) gives expert video advice on: How can you prevent jet lag?

How can you prevent jet lag?

Jet lag is a combination of a couple of problems. One is a change of time, the other is usually an element of dehydration as a result of a long haul flight. The problem that causes most symptoms is the time change, and it is important to pre-empt what will happen when you get to your end stage, which means to say that if you're travelling through the night and you'll be arriving in the morning, what you want to get is as much sleep as possible in order to readapt to your morning timetable as soon as possible during the flight, to keep yourself awake until such time as it would be reasonable to go to bed in your new timetable. If you're going in the opposite direction, and you're travelling during the day to reach your destination at night, what you really want to do is to not sleep during the flight so that when you get to your final destination, you can actually go to bed and sleep normally in order to readapt to your new time.
