How can I prevent my laptop or computer from being stolen by identity thieves?

Consider that our computers are being used for our financial center. We're using it for on-line banking, to balance our books. We're using it to access the internet, to buy products and services over the internet. As a result our computers are being used for just about all of our financial transactions and we're storing a lot of proprietary data on there. If someone was to actually steal your computer from your home or office, what would the consequences be for you? Obviously, it could be some form of identity theft. So I always recommend that a computer is always in some form of a locked room in a locked home or office, preferrably alarmed. And the computer itself be bolted via some type of a cable device to that desk making it that much more difficult for a thief to remove that device, that computer, from your home or your office. There are numerous companies out there that offer hardware to actually lock down your PC making it very difficult for a thief to remove it from your home or office. By searching on-line terms such as security locks for computers, computer lock and so on, you should be able to find numerous small businesses offering these solutions.
