How To Protect Your Invention

How can I protect my invention?
I think protecting your invention requires some foresight. And I know people do not like this word, but it's called a non-compete, or a non-disclosure. They're legal forms, that you need to go to a lawyer, and I would recommend going to a patent lawyer, that says if you're going to sit down with somebody in an industry that has potential to take your idea, you need to protect it. Do not run around town with these forms in your back pocket, making everyone sign it, at the coffee shop, for you to share your idea. That's ridiculous. It's okay to talk loosely about your idea, but to protect your idea you have to have a non-disclosure form, a non-circumvention, and a non-compete. And the best is to acquire these through an attorney that specializes in patent law, because it's not a general contract that you're signing; it's a specific contract.
