How To See The Difference Between A 16x9 And 4x3 Camcorder
Tim Smith (Camcorder Training Specialist) gives expert video advice on: What is the difference between "16x9" and "4x3"?
What is the difference between "16x9" and "4x3"?
Well 16x9 is a wide screen format, meaning the image is wider than it is tall. It's 16x9, it's a much wider image than tall. But 4x3 is what we have been used to watching for years on television. If you are watching this on the web, you are watching me in 4x3 right now. But someday you may be seeing the web in 16x9, that's coming as well. The experience we have in 16x9 is more of a film type experience, and that's why television is starting to move to more of a 16x9 look. They are looking to emulate what we expect in a big theatre. And that is what we are getting now. Where 4x3 it had its time, it worked for its time. But 4x3 is really limited to television broadcasting, or maybe over the web.
