How do I select a good cat breeder?
Reputable breeders will do their best to give you a healthy cat. That said, you need to do your homework to find out if that breeder's reputable, and that's easier than you think. Reputable breeders belong to associations and memberships, like the Siamese Cats or Cat Fanciers Association, and things like that. You can check their track record with these groups. They also go to school, and they keep learning about their breeds. They participate in cat shows, so they really know their breed and they like to showcase their breed. The other thing you need to consider is that good, reputable breeders will always stand behind their kittens. If you have any kind of problem, they will take them back. You know, we can't always guarantee a 100% healthy cat, just like we can't guarantee that babies are going to be 100% healthy. But, reputable breeders will do their best to let you know these are all the medicines that the veterinarian gave this cat, this is the quality food that was fed to this cat, these are some of the social enrichments, the playing that we did with this cat. Those are some of the things you need to do. Most importantly, check with some people that have adopted cats or kittens from that breeder and find out their feedback, if they're satisfied as well.
