To determine the best type of study area for the child would be one of negotiation with your environment as well as the child's needs. If the child has his own room, for example, and if you're able to monitor the child during the homework time that you've established, then that would be great. If it's better to use the kitchen table because of monitoring issues then that might be a better venue to, to have the child work. Basically, a lamp, materials readily available for the youngster, a computer if that's appropriate or a calculator, plenty of paper, pencils, dictionaries, those kinds of things are really essential to allow the student to focus on the task at hand.
