Where do I start?

You need to start with the information you've gathered from yourself and your family, and just set it out, linking each generation with lines. You'll be at the center of your family tree. A line going up to your parents, and then you start doing exactly the same for them. You've got various symbols to show how people are related. An equal sign is the marriage. You can start with yourself, a line going up, an equal sign, and then your parents. And, you can extend that to generation after generation.
