To stay safe while jogging, I think it's important to ideally plan the route that you're going to use. When going jogging, most people want to cover a certain distance in a certain time. Plan a route to achieve that, first of all. If you're going to plan a route for that purpose, then whilst you're doing that, factor in trying to keep to the main roads. If you're jogging in a park, consider going while in daylight or to well lit areas. It's important in planning the route that you try to avoid unlit areas and unsafe areas like that. It's important to safely plan your jogging route. The second thing to do to keep safe is to be careful with listening to music. A lot of people try to use an MP3 player while jogging, to give them that motivation to run a little bit faster or cover that bit more distance. Keep the music that you have at a level where you can still hear what's going on around you. This way, you don't lose that perception of the surroundings that you're in while jogging. I think it's also important to point out that people who are jogging are statistically quite rarely victims of crime. It's just general principles of awareness of where you are and taking sensible precautions around planning a route that help you with your goals around you fitness, but also will minimise the things that make you a victim of crime.
