How can I stop Internet predators from contacting my child?

First of all, there's no guarantees whatsoever, but depending on the age of your child, there are certain things that you can do. You can always get the Net Nanny types of softwares that try to filter out bad guys by filtering content, or sometimes even filtering images, but those have their own limitations. Another thing you can do is you can look upon your child's internet history. You can go into the browser and see where they've been and see what it is they've been doing. I think the common answer to that question is to take your family's computer and put it in a common area so you can always monitor your child's activity. Unfortunately, that doesn't take into account PDAs or laptop computers with wireless technology - the ability to log on almost anyplace at any time for any purpose. So, although it's impossible to do, there are things that can be done. Check your child's internet history, purchase a Net Nanny kind of a software that will filter content, get a hold of your cell phone provider, because they also offer content filters and an ability to access histories as well. Probably, the most important thing you can do, though, is have continual conversations with your children about this issue, so that they don't create their own vulnerable environment.
