How can I stop my mum from bad-mouthing my dad?

Your mum shouldn't be badmouthing your dad in front of you really. You've got a relationship with two different people who are your parents, and the relationship you've got with them in your own right is very important. It's very difficult when parents start badmouthing your other parent because you really care about them, even if you might not agree with how they're behaving or how they've behaved, you do really care, and hearing horrible things about them is never nice. If it's too much for you, you need to be talking to the parent whose badmouthing the other parent, and asking them to stop because it affects how you feel about both of them, and it's too much for you. Just ask them to stop talking, and if they don't then you need to work out some strategies for yourself, either ignore them, or go for a walk when they start talking like that, or get support from your friends, or someone whose job it is to support you, like a school counselor, or someone on a help line, and make sure you've got some support for yourself.
