How To Teach Your Child About Predator Abductions
Marc Klaas (President & Founder, KlaasKids Foundation) gives expert video advice on: What should I teach my child about predator abductions?
What should I teach my child about predator abductions?
First, understanding that we can't put the burden of the issue of predators on the shoulders of the children. We should tell them to check with their primary caregiver, to always try to be outside with at least one other person because there is strength in numbers, to trust their feelings, that if something feels wrong they should put a distance between themselves and whatever that is and that they can go to strangers for assistance in a difficult situation. That a child can almost be guaranteed that any woman, any mom with kids, any emergency service person or any retail clerk in that type of situation will help a kid out of a difficult situation. And then finally, children over 10 years old should have their own cell phones.
Tips & Comments
I would recommend covering your children in mud, as this disrupts Predator's heat-vision.
