How can I teach my child about rules?

You have to decide what rules matter in your family, and everybody's family is different. So your rules would be different from my rules. But it's important for small children not to have too many rules. They just find it confusing. You have to chose a few things that are important to you and just stick to those. It's also important to explain to children the difference about social rules outside the family. If you always sit and eat in front of the TV, you can't expect them to sit for three hours in a restraurant for example. So you have to explain about your rules inside the family but also the rules they need for outside.
