How To Test For Radon In Your Home
Gary Ginsberg (Toxicologist) gives expert video advice on: How do I test for radon in my home?
How do I test for radon in my home?
Roughly 15% of homes do have radon problems; it's not necessarily neighborhood specific, it may be specific to your house. So, the way to test your house for radon is to get a charcoal canister device, it has something simple that you can just open up the lid and inside of it will be a block of carbon. It comes with instructions from the laboratory where you buy the kit from. You place it in your basement and you may also want to place one in the part of the house where you spend the most time in and the gases in the air, the radon in the air, can absorb into the charcoal, into the carbon, and then after two days-- typically a forty eight hour test-- you seal it back off, ship it off to the lab and they can extract the radon out of the carbon and find out what the level was in your indoor air.
