To use a debit card to buy things in a shop, you simply put the card in the machine, enter your pin number (your secret four digit number) and that money is withdrawn straight from your account. You can also use your debit card at an ATM. There, you put the card in the ATM, enter your pin number again, select how much money you want to withdraw from your account and you receive that money.
