How can I use my washing machine in the most environmentally friendly way?

It is important to use your washing machine in an environmentally friendly way, as they go through an amazing 274 cycles per year on average. When you use your washing machine, when possible wait until you have a full load before you run the machine and choose a cooler wash temperature if you can. Modern washing powders and detergents work really effectively at low temperatures, so always wash at 30 to 40 degrees rather then the 60 degree cycle. That will help you use a third less electricity. Try to use environmentally friendly washing powders which are now readily available at all the supermarkets. If you are going to replace your washing machine, make sure you buy an energy efficient model. That will use a third less electricity and will do the same job as an inefficient one.
