How To Write A Good Poem About Someone You Know
How can I write a good poem about someone I know?
I think in British culture, if you want to write a poem about somebody you know in a public kind of way almost certainly it will be slightly mocking, probably some kind of parody, slightly ironic because that's the way we are. We tend not to want to say, I think you're absolutely wonderful, and you're really, really wonderful and really, really wonderful. We want to kind of do something kind of, a bit tongue in cheek, a bit raised eyebrow. So, play to that. Play to the irony, I would say.
