Impressing Your Boss
What's your secret to impressing a tough boss like Donald Trump?
You have to show that you are giving 110% of yourself all the time. If you are going to show up at work, show up and do it well. Don't just do it half way. Put your entire self into it. Look your best. Take the extra time necessary to really look your own personal best and everyone has their own, when I say personal best I mean you know what your own personal best is. Strive for that everyday. Strive for a very positive attitude where when you walk into a room, people want to be around you. When your boss sees that you show up and you are consistent and you are excited and enthusiastic about what you are doing, they also can't help but notice that the people around you are, I don't want to say turned on, but the people around you feed off of your positive energy and then they want to do a better job. It really is sort of a chain reaction. I would say that step 1 for impressing your boss is to be enthused about what you are doing and to put your whole self into it everyday.
What is key to making a good first impression on my boss?
The key to a good first impression, I think, is looking your best. It's definitely about personal pride from head to toe and that means polishing your shoes, combing your hair, taking the extra time to do whatever it is to make yourself feel good. So that you are projecting an image of confidence. A lot of times you don't wake up feeling perfect. You may feel as women, I mean a lot of times I wake up and I feel fat, I have a pimple or I'm stressed out. You still have to be able to walk in and really project an image of I own this room. I am confident. I can conquer anything regardless of what else happens to be going on in your life. To be impressive you have to be inspiring and you have to exude confidence and that will definitely impress people.
What's your advice for getting a foot in the door?
Your foot in the door, that's about how persistent you are. Whatever your goal is, if you start out the day believing that it's absolutely do-able, that there isn't a thing in the world that can keep you from achieving your goal, then you're going to do it. Again, it's about your attitude. Getting your foot in the door is only as difficult as how hard you kick it with your stiletto. I mean really, there isn't a single door you can't open out there, it's just your attitude.
Is it wrong for a woman to use her sex appeal to get ahead with her boss?
Your sexuality is not going to impress the boss. The boss hired you because you're competent and because you're dynamic if you're on the right spot. Using your sexuality, I mean to say that it's wrong to use your sexuality is like saying that you have an asset that you're not put into use. Because men are by nature visual creatures, it would be naive for me to say, ‘No it's wrong to use your sexuality'. To some extent if tastefully done, there's nothing wrong with emphasizing your shape in a classy, understated way. There's something to be said to being too provocative. I think that's tacky and tasteless, I wouldn't do it in a work place. Does that mean you wear a potato sack? No, not at all. If you're gorgeous, you can play up your looks in a very understated way.
