If you are standing alone and have no one to talk to, go to the bar. Go. There's always people that are waiting in line for a drink. You can actually strike up a conversation with the bartender and hangout with him or her.
What is the one thing I could do that will make me look out of place at a hot club or bar?
Any way to make you stand out in a negative manner in a hot club or bar would probably be yelling. No one likes it when you're yelling and there's no reason for you to be shouting. This is an intimate environment where there's music and great people. There's no reason to raise your voice. Also, if you're just dancing like a maniac, that's going to draw very bad attention to you as well. That's about it. Those two.
