Last Minute Wedding Preparations

What should I bring for my wedding day so that I am prepared for anything?

If you have a wedding planner, she's going to have an emergency kit. I have an emergency suitcase. It is so big that when I come to a hotel, they say, "Oh, are you checking in?" It takes two guys to get it out of the car; the thing weighs a ton. For yourself, you want to have the things in a bag that you're going to need if you want to do a little touch-up. Do you need makeup? Do you need an extra pair of pantyhose? Do you need a little sewing kit in there? There should be a little first aid kit that has aspirin and things like that in it, and band-aids. Just in case, have these things with you on your wedding day.

How can I prevent unexpected problems ruining my wedding day?

You want to have somebody in charge of your wedding, like a planner, who's going to keep those problems from happening, or, if they do happen, you're not going to know. That's the whole point. What you don't know can't hurt you, as they say. If you don't know, it doesn't matter. Let somebody else handle it. If you don't have somebody handling the wedding and something comes up, please remember this will not be the end of the world, whatever it is. If the top falls off the wedding cake the world will not come to an end. Try to laugh. Try to take it with a grain of salt and just move through it. Don't let it ruin your day.

What should I be doing the week before my wedding?

The week before your wedding you should be relaxing as much as you can. However, I have this funny feeling that you're still going to be working on that floor plan and figuring out who's sitting at which table. If you can get the time, go for a massage, get a facial, have lunch with your girlfriends, or anything like that. Just smooth yourself out so that you arrive at that wedding date not crazy, but feeling pretty calm and good about the whole thing. That's the way to go.

When should I pack for my honeymoon?

Try to pack for your honeymoon a week ahead, if you possibly can. Waiting until the last minute for that is really difficult if you're going to leave right after the wedding. You have lots of little last minutes things right before – the two days before your wedding. If you can pack a week out, it would really be a great idea.
