I've just lost my job, how will my family cope as we have no savings?

If you've just lost your job, the first thing you should do is seek advice because there are so many things going on and so many different sets of circumstances which would effect what you would be entitled to. The best thing is to seek advice, whether that's independent advice, for example, a local citizen's advice bureau, or contact Job Center Plus. The types of things or information that the advisor would need to know about is: why you lost your job, are you single, do you have a partner, do you have dependent children, do you rent, do you have a mortgage, do you have any savings? All of these types of information are necessary, so take along as much paperwork as possible.
