Materials Used For Roof Terraces

How heavy are the materials used for roof terraces?

Materials used in roof terraces can start at anything from a ton, and go up to three tons, depending on the weight of materials chosen and furniture chosen also.

Can I tile a roof terrace?

You can tile a roof terrace. It is preferable not to tile straight onto asphalt roof surfaces. We recommend a recycled rubber tile that actually is loose laid. It is pegged together and can be laid on a timber support underneath.

Can I lay a lawn on a roof terrace?

Yes, you can lay a lawn on a roof terrace as long as the weight of the soil is taken into consideration. Other considerations include the height of the finished lawn when it's up against the door sill or the up stand of a roof access hatch.

Can I put furniture on a roof terrace?

Yes, you can put furniture on a roof terrace. It is advisable to use a solid timber construction or other material and certainly not plastic, for the obvious reasons of it blowing away.

Can I put a barbecue on a roof terrace?

Yes, barbecues are often requested by our clients on roof terraces and we recommend the use of steel low-level fire pits.

What is a green roof?

A green roof is a roof where either part or all is covered in vegetation such as sedum. It is grown over a suitable sub straight, which is laid over a waterproof membrane. A green roof can also indicate one where the use of solar panels leads to an environmentally friendly roof.
