What traditionally determines men's wedding attire?
Traditionally what determines men's' wedding attire is the time of day that the wedding takes place, and also the location of the wedding.
Do all the men in my wedding party have to dress alike?
It is not necessary for all the men in your wedding party to dress alike. Very often we like to differentiate between the groom and the groomsmen or the other men in the wedding party. For instance, we will perhaps pick an ivory vest and tie for the groom so that he matches the bride, and then use colour in the vests and ties for the rest of the wedding party, perhaps to match the bridesmaids. This puts together a very even, attractive look.
Should all the men in my wedding party wear the same shoes?
It is important that all the men in your wedding party wear the same shoes, and the guideline for this is to think of your photographs, once your photographs have taken place with all your gentlemen wearing matching shoes. If you have somebody in your party who perhaps is elderly and is uncomfortable in rented shoes, at that point after the photographs have been taken, he may wish to change into the simple plain black leather shoes.
What are some ways to distinguish the groom from his groomsmen?
There are many ways to distinguish the groom from the rest of the bridal party, and we do this in a number of different ways. Typically, color is a good way to do this. So, for instance, a groom could wear an all-ivory suit to match his bride or, as I said before, just an ivory vest and tie to match the bride, and keep the groomsmen perhaps to all-black, or black suits with a different colored vest and tie.
Is it appropriate for me to wear black formalwear during a daytime wedding?
Typically, during a formal daytime wedding, it is more common to wear grey. However, these days, most people prefer to wear black. And I think that's mainly because it just photographs so well.
If my bride's wedding gown is ivory, should it change any part of my attire?
If your fiancée's wedding gown is ivory, typically it is better to have your wedding attire matched that colour. However, if you are wearing a coloured or a black breast and tie, it is perfectly normal to wear a white shirt.
Should my tuxedo choice be governed by my bride's wedding gown?
It is very important that your tuxedo choice should fit in with your overall wedding plans. If it is a more formal wedding, you're going to wear a more formal suit. If it's a daytime wedding on a beach and she is probably going to be wearing a more casual dress, you may wish to choose from a selection of daytime tuxedo suits.
When should my groomsmen register for their tuxedos?
The groomsmen should register for their tuxedos as soon as they possibly can. It sometimes takes time to organize an entire wedding party. Once all of the measurements have been received, then the order for those suits will be placed. If it's a busy season for weddings, it's always a good idea to get your order in ahead of other people.
What general measurements will my groomsmen need to provide to get their wedding attire?
The measurements that the groomsmen need to submit, typically you can look these up online. A good salon will have them up on their website and will have instructions for how to go about taking the measurements. Overall, it's imperative that these measurements be taken professionally. The actual measurements needed are your neck size, your arm length (which is measured from the back of the nape of the neck to below the wrist), your chest, an over arm measurement, a waist, and a leg length. You will also need your height, approximate weight and a shoe size.
