Why is NCAA basketball so popular?
NCAA basketball is so popular because it is the last form of pure basketball left out there. I mean you have March Madness; you win or you go home. You do not have that in the NBA. At high school, you have a lot of guys, like you said earlier, leaving and going to the NBA. I think in college basketball you are still getting that coaching. You are still getting that intelligence to put it all together, to move on maybe to a professional rank. It is the last form of pure basketball out there.
What is the best basketball conference in NCAA basketball?
Some of the best basketball conferences, I'll say the PAC 10 You have the Big East. You have the SCC. You have the ACC. Those are probably your top conferences.
Why are we seeing more parity among NCAA teams?
We see a lot of underdog programs come up a be a lot bigger because a lot of these guys weren't recruited in high school that may have developed later on, or they didn't have the grades to come to the school in the first place. They may have taken the junior college route and came into a lower division one team, a D-2 team, or a NAIA team. It strengthens your team and they are already motivated to beat you, this is the biggest game of their life and to the big schools, this is just an exhibition game so there's more motivation for smaller schools to be good schools.
What is the toughest arena to play in in college basketball?
Some of the toughest arenas in college basketball. I say Cameron Indoor arena is definitely one of the toughest, where Duke plays. North Carolina, they're tough. Rupp Arena in Kentucky is definitely tough. The Carrier Dome in Syracuse. Pauley Pavilion with UCLA. These are all tradition programs and you walk in, you see banners. The fans are going crazy, the student section is going nuts and a lot of people, a lot of teams come in they're already beat just by walking in looking around. They're already gone mentally.
Who is the best coach in NCAA basketball?
The best coaches in college basketball right now, of course Coach Shesheski. Coach Ben Howland. There's tons of good coaches, but those three right there are really doing a fantastic job with their program.
How is the college game different from the NBA?
College basketball is very different from the NBA. It is a much slower pace. You do not have the money factor, the political factor, more of the professional ranks than it is in college. The game is just pure in college. You are being coached in college. In the NBA it is a player's league, so the coach just basically makes substitutions and you just go out there and make plays. Now if he needs a certain play at the end of a game to win a game, ok then he will step up and make a few calls. But other than that, the college basketball game and NBA basketball game are very different.
