Party Invitations
What is an 'invitation'?
The invitation? It's the announcement that you're having a party. The invitation should have the standard information: the date, time, and location. The invitation should also let the guests know what to wear. I even like to let people know whether it's a cocktail party or whether it's a barbecue, and how they should dress (as I mentioned a second ago). Because if it's a barbecue you want them to be casual. If it's a wedding, maybe you want them semi-formal, and maybe you want them formal. But the invitation should have some high-energy words to get people excited to come to your party.
What should I consider when choosing invitations?
When choosing invitations for your party consider the budget, the theme of the party, make it exciting, add some high energy words for your guest because high energy words gets them to the party. The party keeps them there.
What is a 'save the date' notice?
The 'save the date' notice is an announcement that you're having a party and it's sent out prior to the invitation, so that people can get it on their calendar.
When should I send the invitations to my party?
You should send out your invitations three to five weeks prior to your event, if you sent out a "Save the date" notice. A little longer time will be required if you did not send a "Save the date" notice.
What should I include on my party invitations?
The information that you should put on an invitation is naturally the date, the time, where the location is, and a little map always helps. Also, I like to tell people what they should be wearing, aside from what they're eating, whether it's a buffet, whether it's just a cocktail party, or perhaps it's just champagne and desserts. This is helpful for people so that they can prepare to come to your party properly.
What should I consider when designing invitations?
Factors to consider when you're designing your invitations is colours. It's also the high-energy words included in your invitation that get the guests excited to come to your party. If it's themed, then have the invitation company show you different ideas, different colours. Remember the key is to get the guest excited to come to your party.
What should I consider when choosing stamps for my invitations?
When choosing a stamp to mail your invitation, go to the post office website, see what's available and then choose something that's as close to your theme as possible.
What is an 'RSVP'?
An "RSVP" is a French term meaning simply, please respond. It's a little card that you'll put in a little envelope, and send back. Now most people are nice enough to include a stamp so you don't have to scramble for one.
Should I include an RSVP card in the invitation?
Deciding whether or not your party needs an RSVP card depends on the style of the event. On an open house, generally RSVPs are either called in or emailed in. Today, people can email their response in. On a formal party, I do recommend RSVP cards.
Should my invitations be handwritten?
The question always arises whether or not I should handwrite my invitations. There's a lot of programs these days that automatically calligraphy it for you. That's nice. Or, hire somebody to do the calligraphy. On a formal party, it looks nice when it is handwritten.
What is the difference between a 'formal invitation' and an 'informal invitation'?
The difference between a formal invitation and just a regular invitation is generally the style. A formal invitation will usually have a response card inside, whereas an informal invitation will not. It's just an announcement.
