Party Scheduling
What should I consider when planning the date of my party?
When choosing a date, be careful not to choose it too close to a special holiday. A lot of people go out of town. Also, is it a business function? If it's a business function, usually they work better during the week right after work, so people can leave right from their job right to the event. If it's a wedding and an anniversary or some type of a celebration like that, weekends are always going to be the best.
What should I consider when planning the time of my party?
Well, the time to have your party, if it's a business function and it's right after work, well then, you want to know what time everybody is getting off of work. Specific groups get off at different times. People in the entertainment business tend to get off a little later, while people in, say the accounting business, usually clock out at five. So 6 o'clock to six thirty is a great time, as it gives them a little time to travel to the venue. If it's a wedding, you want to consider whether or not budgeting is important as well, because you can have a less expensive party during the day. But for the most part, 7 o'clock is a premium time, on a Saturday, and that's always going to be my recommendation.
What factors should I consider when determining the length of my party?
When considering the length of your party, consider your guests. If it's a younger crowd and I'm talking teens, you want to start earlier on a day. If it's an older crowd, generally think about starting at about 6 and ending it about ten. If it's people in their twenty's and thirty's, well you are not going to get them to the party 'til about nine, so I'd go nine to one.
Should I make a schedule for my party?
Having a schedule for your party is important. It lets everybody know what's happening, and especially if it's being catered. This way at least the caterer knows, the band knows, and everybody is on the same page. It's great to have a timeline.
