Passive smoking is when somebody, possibly a non smoker or a child, is actually breathing in the smoke of a smoker.

Passive smoking is just as dangerous as smoking, and in fact it actually has been proven that passive smoking kills as well as smoking.
Who is most at risk from passive smoking?
Those who are at risk of passive smoking tend to be those who are vulnerable. For example the elderly and also children. Passive smoking is greatest when it's actually in the home or in a car because there is no other option for the passenger. They can't get out and they can't escape the smoke, therefore falling victim to passive smoking.

The health risks to children from passive smoking is astronomical. Children are breathing in the smoke of their parents and adults around them and that is causing a devastating effect on them for their long-term health. Childhood symptoms of blue air and asthma are all directly linked to passive smoking. Hundreds of thousands of children are admitted to hospital because of passive smoking each year as a result of their parents or other adults around them smoking

There is no safe level of exposure to passive smoking.
Are the risks reduced if someone smokes in a well ventilated area?
No. The reason that we're moving towards comprehensive smoke free legislation is because we have to protect the health of all. There is no safe level of exposure to passive smoking.
