Problems With A Child Carer

Thom Crabbe (Childcare Expert) gives expert video advice on: What should I do if my child complains about their nanny to me? and more...

What should I do if I am concerned about the way my childminder, nursery worker or nanny behaves?

If you have any concerns about the behavior of your childcarer, it's important to deal with it quickly and clearly. If there is a manager of the service, you can peak directly to the manager, but if you directly employ the childminder or nanny, you'll need to speak to them yourself at the earliest possible opportunity. If you have a childminder who's registered with Ofsted, you can raise your concerns with them too.

What should I do if my child complains about their nanny to me?

If your child makes a complaint about the nanny, it will be important to check the issues clearly with the child, and then potentially speak to the nanny at the earliest possible opportunity. Any parent will be very concerned with any issue that their child raises, and you need to deal with it quickly and clearly.

Who should I contact to make a formal complaint about my childcare?

If you use registered childcare and you have reasons to make a formal complaint, you should go straight to Ofsted and raise your concerns with them.
