Prom Dates
Who's a better prom date, a friend or a boyfriend or girlfriend?
I think there's no rules when it comes to your prom date. So you can go with the person that you've been dating for a long time. You can ask somebody new. You can go with your girlfriends. You can go with a guy friend if you really like you want to go with somebody that's of the opposite sex. It's totally up to you. There's no rules, and you should just have fun and make those memories.
How far in advance should I ask someone to prom?
If, obviously you're not dating somebody and you want to ask someone new, you kind of want to give the person a month or two in advance notice before you ask them to the prom because they need time to prepare and you want to give them that courtesy.
Is it OK for a girl to ask a boy to prom?
It is absolutely OK for a girl to ask a guy out to the prom or any other date for that matter, because it's the twenty-first century and if you like somebody you should just ask them. I have a friend that asked a guy out and they've been dating for seven years so it works out, and it's great.
What if I accept one prom date and someone better asks me?
If somebody new asks you to the prom and you already have a date, you should not upgrade because if you think you are doing something to get a better date, that is not an upgrade, that is a downgrade on your personality. Somebody has asked you out, you've already committed to it, you need to stick to it. At the end of the day, it's not about who you go with, it's about what you do, and your friends, and having a good time, and dancing the night away. So definitely do not accept the second offer. You have one, so stick with it and be happy.
Do I need a date for the prom?
There's no rule book saying that you need a date for the prom. If you just want to go by yourself, if you want to go with your friends, your girlfriends, a guy friend, a significant other, doesn't matter. You don't need a date. If you feel like going solo you should go, have a good time, get dressed up, still get your hair done and go the whole nine yards.
It is OK to go to prom in a group?
It's absolutely OK to go with a group and I actually recommend it. I went to the prom with a group, most everybody I know went in groups. It's not just about you and your date, it's about your friends, it's about making memories and capping off your four years of high school or college.
Is it cool for me to ask people besides my date to dance?
It's definitely okay to dance with other people at the prom, not just the person that you came with, but you just want to make sure that you're dancing with people that you know because if you're going up to somebody you don't know, that's sort of like flirting, you don't want to do that in any sense, but certainly not at the prom where you're with your friends and everybody's watching you. So if you don't know the person, you don't want to go up to them and just ask them to dance because, again, that's flirting and you don't want to do that because you have a date.
Is it OK to ask someone from a different school to my prom?
If you are dating somebody from another school or you just like somebody from another school, there's no reason why you shouldn't ask them because it is about going to the prom with the person you want to be there with. So go for it, ask them.
Is it weird to be a prom date at someone else's school?
It's probably a little uncomfortable if you are going to a prom at a school that you don't go to, because you don't necessarily know everybody there. But you know what, there's no rhyme or reason. If you're going with somebody you care about, then just go there; have fun, be with them, you know, have fun with their friends, dance with their friends, and just enjoy the moment.
