Proposals-The Ring

John Cordova (VP, Human Resources, Robbins Bros.) gives expert video advice on: Can I propose without a ring?; What are some creative ways to propose without a ring?; Should I hide the ring and let her find it? and more...

What are some creative ways to propose without a ring?

Some of the more creative ways to propose without a ring would be by posting a big old sign on a freeway overpass asking her to marry you, by inviting her and a bunch of friends to dinner and drawing a picture of a ring. I have seen actually this happen where the guy has drawn a picture actually had a picture painted of him and her at the altar and he proposed that way and then invited her to choose the ring of her dreams. So there are a lot of different ways and it is really left up to the creative imagination of the person doing the proposing.

Should I hide the ring and let her find it?

Treasure hunts, or hiding the ring a letting her find it, can be a lot of fun. In the past we've had guest that have taken their picture from the moment they pull into our parking lot to the moment they purchase the ring, and then left a trail for her to follow. That's fun. Some folks leave clues, others just give verbal clues for her to find it in the hope that she finds it pretty quickly before she gets frustrated and gives up on the hunt.

What is the funniest place you've heard of someone hiding an engagement ring?

The funniest place for me was in an ice cube and the reason that it was the funniest place is that she actually bit into the ice cube without realizing the ring was inside. But I've also heard of people baking their rings in the wedding cake. I've heard them hiding them in the trash, I even know of a couple that hid their engagement ring in a custom made Christmas ornament and he had it in there the whole time the Christmas tree was up. There's a lot of great places and its, again, up to the imagination.
