Pubic lice are small parasitic insects that live in the pubic hair. Pubic lice are a bit like nits on the head except that pubic lice infect the pubic hair only.

Pubic lice can be transmitted through any form of close contact. This doesn't have to be sexual, and can include simply sharing the same bed as somebody infected with pubic lice.
How do I know if I've got pubic lice?
Pubic lice frequently causes extreme itching and irritation in the pubic region. You can sometimes see the small pubic lice attached to the pubic hairs.
What are the long term effects of pubic lice?
There are no long-term effects of having pubic lice and they can be easily treated.
How can I avoid pubic lice?
The only way to avoid catching pubic lice is to avoid any form of close bodily contact with another person. Condoms don't stop the transmission of pubic lice.
How do I cure pubic lice?
Pubic lice are easily cured. There's a shampoo available from the pharmacy to treat pubic lice which you apply, leave on, and it will kill the pubic lice and their eggs.
