Skateboarding Videos
What makes a good skateboarding video?
I think diversity. Diversity in videos, because you don't want to just have street skating, you don't just want to have verve skating, you want to have a little of everything. What the really exciting videos are all about, I think, is travel logs almost. They just about taking skate trips, like adventure trips, like going to different countries, go to Alaska, go to Scandinavia, go to Australia, go to Brazil or whatever. Just going to different places and experiencing what it is like to be a skateboarder out of your own environment.
Will making a highlight video of my best tricks get me recognition as a skateboarder?
It might and it might not; there's a lot of kids that are out there that are trying to get sponsored and some can cut the mustard and some can't. A lot of kids end up getting sponsored and then they don't take it really anywhere, and they just end up being an amateur sponsored skater forever and they just don't really take it to the next level. So its always a gamble, its always a chance, but that's not really what skateboarding is all about. I think, like I said earlier, its not really about sponsorship; skateboarding is more about just getting the basics down; progressing to the point where you feel comfortable on your board and just having fun with it.
What do I do with my skateboarding video?
You can send it to whatever company you think that you'd not only like to skate for, but also that you would maybe have a chance of getting sponsored by, I would think. Amateur skateboarders have aspirations, obviously, just like pro skateboarders do. You'll never know, number one, if you'll get sponsored, and two, if you'll really fit in with the image of the company you're trying impress, trying to get them to pick you up and sponsor you.
