It is typically a set top box sometimes offered in some bundled pc setups, in which case you can connect your cable box to your computer and have your computer record television shows for you based on TV guide listings. 'TiVo ToGo' is a service for Tivo customers that allows them to watch the recorded content on their Tivo set top boxes anywhere they want, whether it be their mobile device (wirelessly), or their laptop computer. As long as you have an internet connection, you will be able to download your recorded content and watch it wherever you please.

Slingbox is a service that comes with a piece of hardware that connects to your television at home and records television shows and broadcasts them live onto your mobile device. The slingbox then means you can, from your mobile device, actually change channels and watch TV live as it's happening wirelessly on your cell phone or laptop computer.
