Taking Your Car Home From The Dealership
Will I be able to leave with the car I want the same day?
Leaving the car dealership with the car you wanted to buy that same day is really a reflection of how deep your negotiations go and what sort of inventory the dealer has in the vehicle you're looking for. It's an absolute possibility, but you may want to get a new stereo installed, or some custom feature or add-on which might require the vehicle to stay an additional day or two at the dealership. In most cases, the vehicles are cleaned up, polished and ready to be driven off the lot that day.
Will it cost me more if the car salesman has to order my car from the factory?
There's no additional charge to the buyer of the vehicle. There's just a cost in time that you can't have that vehicle at that point. If the dealer tells you that its going to cost you more money to order, or there is any sort of transfer fee something like that, they are basically trying to push you to buy what they have today and so reject that.
What is a "dealer's demo"?
A dealer demo is a vehicle which has generally been used by the staff of the dealership, either for demonstration purposes to consumers, or maybe even driven home on a nightly basis by some of the salespeople. They are often sold with four or five thousand miles on them, with some reduction in price as well. Dealer demos can reflect a somewhat risky buy in that the vehicle has possibly been driven harder than you would hope, but you might get some savings from the fact that it's no longer a new vehicle and has to be sold as used.
Will it cost me more if a dealer gets my new car from another dealer?
It will not cost you more to do a transfer from one car dealer to another, and if your salesperson tells you that, they're just trying to push you to buy whatever cars they have in stock that day.
