Tattoo Basics
What is a tattoo?
A tattoo is a design or a picture thats been injected into your skin using a needle and ink. Tattoos are a great thing because it's a really good way for a person to express their personality and things that they are into. A Tattoo can be made from any sort of design, it can be a solid block tribal design to full color picture portraits. Anything can be made into a tattoo design.
What should I know before I get a tattoo?
Tattoos are very permanent - they are designed to last the rest of your life-time, so before you get one make sure it is what you want, as adding on, and changing them, or even removing them is not an easy thing to do. Tattoos can be very safe - it is always good to check in to the shop youre going to, to make sure that all the artists that work there have been trained in handling blood-borne pathogens safely.
What are the common reasons people get tattoos?
People get tattoos for all sorts of reasons - to show off their personality, life accomplishments, commemorate the loss of a loved one, or to show their hobby. One of the most important things about tattooing is to do your homework and your research before you get your tattoo. Don't rush into it. Sometimes the impulse tattoo can be fun, but a little bit of planning will go a long way.
What is a 'sleeve'?
A tattoo sleeve would be considered from the wrist all the way up to your shoulder. Essentially, it is your full arm. The arm can be completely covered or there can be some open spots, but generally with a sleeve the majority of your arm is completely tattooed.
What is a 'henna' tattoo?
Henna tattooing is a dye that goes onto your skin and then leaves - it stains your skin for a week or two, and then it simply washes off with time. It is not permanent.
