The AIFA
Who are the Association of Independent Financial Advisers (AIFA)?
The Association of Independent Financial Advisers is a trade association that represents the interests of IFA's.
What do the AIFA do?
The AIFA stands for the 'Association of Independent Financial Advisors'. The AIFA is a trade association that represents the interests of independent financial advisers, and their main function is to lobby government, and the regulator, to make sure that they don't put rules in place that would make it far too difficult for AIFA's to actually practice their business. We also put out information to make sure AIFA's are complying with the rules, just the high level stuff, in order to give them a guide on which way they should be doing things.
Can the AIFA recommend an IFA for me?
An AIFA is unable to recommend individual firms to consumers. Generally what we would recommend is that they look at the IFA promotion website and get the information from there - there's a very good search engine on that site.
