Is cosmetic surgery popular among pageant contestants?
I have heard there's girls that go out and do the whole boob augmentation, they went and had their eyebrows done or whatever. Aside from all of us having extensions, I am not really too sure. And everyone is wearing makeup too. I don't know. I never really went around and asked the girls, "hey are those real?" So, I don't know.
Do surgical enhancements give you an advantage in a pageant?
I think it can give you some sort of an advantage, because just like there's that show, Dr. 90210, plastic surgery's are like a major thing right now. There's girls that are getting boob augmentations for their sixteenth birthday. It's a new fad, or something like that. I think judges know that as well, and I think at some point it probably is giving them a little bit of an advantage, especially if the girl next to you doesn't have the same thing done, and you just had all these alterations. So it can. I think it can.
What's the diet of beauty queen?
A diet of a beauty queen will tell you one thing: It's not been my diet because, all I eat is cookies and brownies and I swear im not even lying, that's really what I eat. It's really awful. I think we're supposed to eat is the brown rice, vegetables and water. I'm really psycho, I've been eating cookies and all the other crazy things. As long as you're working out, the rest should metabolize off. At least we hope it is, I just do my own thing.
How important is it to be skinny for a pageant competitor?
I think it is important, because, I mean I think with any system they want to promote people being healthy. But the key word is healthy, not thin. Because, if you're like thin, like stick bone, you cant even like see like anything on you, it's just all like bones everywhere, it's not very healthy. So, I think like pageants in general they need to tell girls, have a healthy looking body, not a thin looking body, because people are getting that mixed up. So as long as you're healthy, I mean if you're healthy at a size 10, you're healthy as a size 10, it is what it is.
How much do girls stress out over their bodies in a pageant?
Oh, I'm sure they stress a lot. I know that I was stressing out a little bit too, especially for me, because I do eat a lot of really bad foods and it all collects in here. You do get a little nervous because you say, "Are they going to see that," Are they going to mark off," Do they think I'm plus size now?" It really is a big issue and it's kind of sad because it's just the world we live in. We're being told all the time, "This is the way it should be." "This is the what you should look like." "This is the girl you should look like." And you just kind of get mixed up and you have to step back a little bit and realize you are who you are. You're going to be what you're going to be.
How important is a hot body for the bikini competition?
I think it's really important because that's one thing that they do put on the list. They're looking for fitness. So, I mean, it would be kind of nice, I mean, you don't have to have a six pack for it to be nice and toned, that would be nice. They don't want you to come in there flabby-babby, moving around. Hey, it can be a size ten, but toned, you know, so, I think there's different sizes, but still be toned, so it's very very important, so if you're not working out, you're probably not going to score too high.
