The CIA Directorate Of Intelligence
Ronald Kessler (Author of "The Terrorist Watch: Inside The Desperate Race To Stop The Next Attack") gives expert video advice on: What are the responsibilities of The CIA Directorate of Intelligence?; What are the responsibilities of the CIA'S Office of Leadership Analysis?
What are the responsibilities of The CIA Directorate of Intelligence?
The Directorate of Intelligence analyzes the information from the other two directorates, the Clandestine Service and the Science of Technology Directorate, as well as information from all other sources, such as NSA, which intercepts communications, generally, information from Defense Intelligence Agency, other agencies including open source information. They will look at what's on the web, they'll look at newspapers, and the idea is to present to the president, every day, what they call the President's Daily Brief, which tells him any secrets that he needs to know about what is going on in the world.
What are the responsibilities of the CIA'S Office of Leadership Analysis?
The Office of Leadership Analysis goes into what world leaders are up to and what they're like, and tries to predict how they might respond to a particular event, whether they're crazy - as in the case of the North Korean leader - whether they can be relied upon or trusted. They basically come up with a psychological profile of each leader of any importance, to just help the whole government figure out what these countries are up to.
