What types of questions appear in the math section of the ACT?
The ACT math section gives you sixty minutes to answer sixty multiple choice math questions. The content of the math questions basically falls into six categories. There's pre-algebra and arithmetic, elementary algebra, intermediate algebra, co-ordinate geometry, plane geometry and trigonometry.
What's the secret to getting a great score on the ACT math section?
Since the ACT math test is essentially a math achievement test, you want to take as rigorous and thorough a math courseload through high school as possible. That's really the key to getting a good score on the ACT math.
Can I use a calculator while taking the ACT math section?
You certainly can use a calculator on the ACT math test, but you can't use a calculator on any other parts of the test, including the science test. Basically any calculator that you have will be acceptable, with certain exceptions. Certain calculators are prohibited, so you'll want to go on the website, www.actstudent.org, to see if your calculator is allowed.
