The School Calendar

However, the most common school calendars are the traditional school calendar and the year round school calendar. Students who follow a traditional school calendar, typically begin school in August or September, and end in May or June. Students who follow a year round school calendar, have varying start dates.
Do year-round schools offer fewer days of vacation?
Typically students who follow a year-round calendar have the same amount of days in school as a traditional school calendar. They just take different breaks throughout the year instead of one long break over the summer.
How can I keep my child engaged with learning during school breaks?
There are many ways to keep a child engaged in learning during school breaks or vacations from school. Having children review some of the things that they have done in school, playing games with them, taking them on mini field trips in the community and teaching them about their environment is a way to keep them engaged. There are also many different programs available for children to attend throughout the summer. Many schools offer summer school programs for younger children, as well as older children which continues their learning.
