Thrift Store Shopping
What should I know about shopping at a thrift or consignment store?
When you're shopping in a thrift or consignment store, I think the main thing is to be careful of the quality of the shirt. By quality, I don't mean, is it a high-end expensive line, but I mean is there a smell to it, are there stains, is it really worse for wear, are there any holes, rips, tears, and any of that stuff. Stay away from the items that just look like they've been around the block too many times.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of shopping at a thrift or consignment store?
The advantages of shopping at a thrift or consignment store are you can find unbelievably classic, high-end couture for nothing! Then of course you have the disadvantage, which is getting the clothes that are old, or worn, or just that someone else wore. Sometimes that can be a little icky.
Is it really possible to find a stylish outfit at a thrift store?
Oh my god it is possible to find a stylish outfit at a thrift or consignment store. I spend most of my budget on thrift and consignment clothing because if you know what you're looking for with those name brands you'll be able to pick those out to add to your own wardrobe. So pull out a magazine with some celebrities in it, grab a look and head to the consignment store. Guaranteed you will be able to replicate that look for close to nothing.
