What basic bathroom items should I bring with me on a trip?

A lot of times the basic toiletry items that you want to have is have your toothpaste, have your own tooth brush. You'll probably want to have your own hairbrush; it's also nice to have deodorant. A lot of times for men you might have a little bit of cologne and for women perfume. And what I do is I usually get the little sample cologne sizes in some of the department stores and I will bring that with me instead of having a whole bottle. If I brought the whole bottle a lot of the time it would be taken away from me, and also it takes up too much room. If you can't have sample sizes of these items make sure you bring your toothbrush, your toothpaste, your hair gel or hair paste if you need that, shaving cream. And a lot of times you can also buy, if you're a man, you can buy shaving cream in smaller tubes so that makes it nice and compact to travel with and makes it easy.

Are there additional grooming items I might need when traveling?

A lot of people when they travel, they like to have hand sanitizers because a lot of time when you're traveling you might be in different areas where a lot of people are touching different items and you're exposing yourself. So a lot of people will carry those little travel size hand sanitizers. They'll also maybe have moist towelettes in case they are in a situation where they need that. One of the other things that is helpful to put in your suitcase is maybe something that will take the lint off your clothing. A lot of times maybe you're traveling, you'll have hair on your clothing or some sort of lint, and it's kind of nice to have one of those tape type rolls where you can roll your clothing so you look nice and fresh.

Should my toiletry kit go in my luggage or in my carry-on bag?

A lot of times it's nice to have your toiletries with you but it depends really if you are going to check in bags anyway then you might just want to put your toiletries into a check-in bag. And also it depends on the size of your toiletries. If you have items that are over three ounces then you have to put them in your check-in bag. But one of the things that a lot of travellers do is they'll maybe take part of their toiletries with them in case their bags get lost. And for instance, females maybe take some of their perfume with them, or what I do is I take a tooth brush and a tooth paste with me and that way at least I know that I can brush my teeth. So you might want to have some of your toiletries with you but other items you can check-in if you are going to check-in your bags.

What should I do if my bathroom items are in large bottles?

If your bathroom items are in large bottles, like shampoo and conditioner. What you should do is get smaller sizes, for instance, if you go to the drugstore, they have these little empty plastic bottles that you can put smaller sizes into. If you're going on a longer trip, and you'll probably need larger quantities, then what you want to do is think about checking in your bags, because you don't want TSA take it away from you because you can lose a lot of money. So, if you have any doubts, then check in your bags.

What should I look for in a toiletry bag?

The type of toiletry bag that you have is going to depend on the type of travels that you do. I have a very mesh material and the reason why I use that is I can put in the sample sizes of items that I have very easily, very quickly and if I need to pull it out of my carry-on luggage to show TSA, I can do it pretty quickly. But it really depends, if you have a lot of heavier, larger items, if you have a lot of makeup, if you have a lot of hairbrushes and so forth then you might want a larger toiletry bag so that you can keep all of those items safe. A lot of times toiletries can be expensive so you want to make sure that you do keep them safe and that they don't leak as well. You want to have a bag that has a plastic lining because one of the things that you do want to avoid is if there is any leakage, you don't want it to get all over your clothes. When you have a hook on your toiletry bag it does make it more convenient for you because what you can do, you can hook it onto a door or onto any type of hook and that way the items in your toiletry bag are much more accessible. Usually they're layered so you can have your cotton swabs in one pocket, your liquids in another pocket and it's a real nice easy convenient way to carry your toiletries.
