Twins In Child Acting
Is it easier for twins to get children's roles?
Sometimes, because of the limits on the time. Depending on how old the child is, they can only spend a certain amount of time in front of the camera. If two children are identical, seriously identical, a producer might be able to maximize their shooting day by having twins or triplets. Absolutely identical twins and triplets are not that common. A lot twins don't look exactly alike, so in that case you really need to be in touch with them and decide what Barbie gets and what Jimmy doesn't. How is Jimmy going to feel or visa versa, and you really have look at how that plays into your family and your children's lives.
What are the pros and cons for twins who are child actors?
The disadvantages for twins would only be if one gets it and the other one doesn't or they both get hired but only one is used on set. Maybe they show up and one kid is just on that day and the director is able to get a reaction and works that kid, works that kid and gets everything they need and then guess what? They are done. They call a wrap and the other kid is like "When is it my turn? Sometimes a kid will go to set and they won't work because they are either a backup or the other kid hit it. So you have to really be kind to the child and explain to them it has nothing to do with them. It just has to do with the production. We were here just as a safety. That would be my guess would be the worst thing that could happen to twins.
Is it harder for twin actors as they get older?
One of the key advantages for twin children working is the production time. It's the value the production gets. They get to shoot longer, but once you are an adult, they can shoot you all day, all night. They don't have to pay you but it is not as much of a situation. And now with computer technology, if they need somebody to look like somebody else they can make you.
