Vehicle Accessory Upgrades
What is "optional equipment"?
Optional equipment is all the step up, or the higher trim level equipment that can be added to a vehicle. So maybe, an upgraded sound system, or a DVD entertaiment system, or a larger engine, or a more robust transmission, or a trailering or towing package. These are all pieces of optional equipment that can be added on to the base model and provide a higher degree of utility and/or value to the potential owner. If you're interested in identifying what optional equipment is available for the vehicle, this can done on the Monroni sticker, which is going to be on the left-hand side of the vehicle, usually in the passenger side window.
What is the difference between "options" and "accessories"?
With regards to vehicle options and accessories, options are features that are actually installed in the vehicle at the port or factory. These options are all features that came attached to the vehicle when it was delivered from the factory to the dealership. Accessories are things that you can add onto the vehicle after the fact; maybe additional lighting, special grills or trim badges, upgraded leather seats, upgraded stereo systems, and very common these days would be upgraded wheels and tires. These are all things that are known as accessories and added onto the car after that.
What is an "off road package"?
An off road package is generally a set accessories that have been installed on the vehicle after it left the factory. These can be things like light bars, winches, upgraded tires, larger off-road tires and wheels, upgraded suspensions, maybe lifting the vehicle up a little higher on the frame so it can go over rocks and bushes (off road) a little easier.
What is a "towing package"?
With regards to vehicle options, extras and accessories, a towing package is generally considered to be a key group of equipment which is added to the vehicle. The actual towing equipment is at the back of the vehicle where the hitch is going to be attached. With a towing package, often brakes will be upgraded; a transmission cooler will be added to the transmission to make sure that it doesn't overheat from the additional weight you're pulling when you are towing. This information could be identified in the additional options section of the Monroni sticker.
What is a "car navigation system"?
A car navigation system is a little screen quite often in the center of the dashboard on a lot of vehicles these days that has a DVD system which provides updated location and mapping information so you can identify where you are in a particular area. And how it does this is with GPS software which uses satellites in orbit to help triangulate or identify where you are in a given area on land. One of the key factors when looking to buy a vehicle that has a navigation system built in is it's user interface. How easy is it to actually plug in the destination you're looking for, the address that you're looking for, or the information that you need. Some of them are very technical and provide great results, but you may find that it is difficult to plug your destination or location information in. One way around that is many new systems which provide voice activated input, so you actually push a button and say "123 Oak Street" and it will find that location for you automatically.
Do I need to subscribe to car navigation systems?
Satelite navigation systems are great in that you purchase them up front when you buy the vehicle, and there is no subscription fees thereafter.
